8 New Omega for the 75th Seamaster anniversary

Published - by Mathieu Celi — Updated on -

Omega has just announced its new Seamaster collection, Summer Blue, comprising 8 diving watches. With this new collection, the watchmaker demonstrates its expertise in creating watches for the seas and oceans, at all depths (up to 6,000 meters).

The eight emblematic models (11 references in total) are each equipped with a unique blue dial, darker or lighter to match the water-resistance of each model.

Before discussing the new products, let's talk a little about the Seamaster collection.

History of the Omega Seamaster collection

In 1932, Omega set foot in the world of diver's watches with its Omega "Marine" model, which could withstand depths of around 130 meters. Not only was it affordable, it was also very robust, and equipped sailors and soldiers during the Second World War.

Although this model was launched quite early, the Seamaster collection was not yet in existence, as it would be launched in 1948.

In 1957, the Seamaster collection truly made watchmaking history with the introduction of the Seamaster 300. This watch was specially designed for professional divers and was water-resistant to a depth of 300 meters, a technical feat at the time. The Seamaster 300 quickly became a benchmark in scuba diving, appreciated for its reliability and exceptional performance.

Over the years, Omega has continued to innovate and improve the Seamaster collection. New technologies were incorporated, such as the Co-Axial automatic movement, which offered greater precision and improved shock resistance, and the use of new advanced materials, such as titanium and ceramics, to enhance the watches' durability.

The Seamaster collection is also distinguished by its links with the marine world. Omega has played a key role in deep-sea exploration, collaborating with renowned diving teams and equipping world-renowned submarines and explorers. These watches have been tested in extreme conditions, contributing to the advancement of science and technology for underwater watches.

Today, Omega's iconic Seamaster collection is associated with adventure, precision and elegance.
